Brasserie La Natation is a classic Grenoble bar that fits naturally into the rhythms of the city’s social life. Located on Boulevard Gambetta, it’s the kind of spot where locals drop by for a quick lunch or linger over drinks as the evening unfolds. The focus here is on straightforward, approachable fare like tartare alongside a solid selection of beers and the local herbal liqueur, génépi, which gives a true taste of the region.

During the day, it offers a practical spot for a casual meal — nothing overly fancy, just honest French café-style dishes that pair well with a cold beer. Come evening, Brasserie La Natation transforms into a lively gathering place; expect it to fill up quickly after 8 pm, with a crowd that’s drawn as much by the warm, welcoming staff as by the affordable drinks. Regulars appreciate the relaxed vibe, though it leans more toward functional than atmospheric, with some noting the space could feel a bit more inviting in terms of ambiance.

One advantage when temperatures climb is the air-conditioned room, a refreshing retreat during Grenoble’s warmer months. Happy hour brings an added bonus of complimentary snacks like peanuts and sausages, making it a smart pick for those looking to unwind without overspending. If you enjoy a friendly, no-nonsense bar where you can easily strike up a conversation and share a good drink, this spot fits well. Just be prepared for a bustling crowd in the evenings, so arriving earlier can secure a more relaxed experience.

In short, Brasserie La Natation suits those who want a dependable local bar with decent food options, a varied beer selection, and a genuine, down-to-earth Grenoble atmosphere.

A typically french café / bar. You can eat here for your lunch and share a beer/wine/spirituous during night. Come early it maybe really crowded after 8pm

Nice place, with good selection of beers and good prices. Most important is that the people that works there are warm and kind!

It is a nice pub. During happy hours, with drinks, peanuts and sausage are offered free.

Good crowd. Less one star because of not so great ambience. Everything else is superb.

I highly recommend going there at happy hour time (from 5pm). Not only is the beer cheaper, you get peanuts and half a saucisson for free, which is pretty generous. Aside from that, the beer selection is great and seems to change often. The waitress also had extensive knowledge of the selection and can easily guide your choice depending on your mood.

Top bar, near the public poil, with many kinds of beers, happy hour and treats for everyone

The beers & service are awesome - but there is essentially no food here other than a few happy hour snacks. Google reviews are WAY out of touch on this.
